The Real Power Players at Hedera: My Skeptical Take
So I've been digging into who's actually pulling the strings at Hedera Hashgraph, and it's quite the power structure they've built.
Let me start with Mance Harmon. This guy's CV looks impressive on paper - technology executive for 20+ years, CEO and co-founder of Hedera. But what strikes me is how cleverly he's positioned himself in this industry. After watching him operate, I'm convinced he's mastered the corporate-crypto dance better than most. Is he truly innovating, or just expertly navigating the industry politics? I have my doubts.
Then there's Dr. Leemon Baird - the supposed "brains" behind Hashgraph. Sure, he's got the academic credentials, but I've noticed how conveniently complex his explanations of the technology can be. Makes you wonder if that complexity is by design - keep it confusing enough that few can question it.
What really bothers me is their "decentralized" governance council. Google, IBM, LG, Tata, Deutsche Telekom, Nomura... impressive names, right? But let's be real - this isn't decentralization, it's corporate centralization wearing a crypto mask. These companies don't join such initiatives out of altruism.
I've watched enough corporate blockchain projects crash and burn to know that having big names doesn't guarantee success. If anything, it often creates competing agendas that paralyze progress.
The price movements of HBAR don't inspire confidence either. Every pump seems calculated, and the dumps that follow are predictable. Trading patterns suggest manipulation that benefits the largest holders - likely including some council members themselves.
Don't be fooled by the fancy governance model. When major corporations control your "decentralized" platform, you're just swapping one master for several.
HBAR might have potential, but I'm keeping my distance until I see who truly benefits from their success.
