ENOUGH ALREADY! The Digital Dollar Breaks the Barrier of 300 Bolívares in Venezuela
Look at what I am seeing... USDT has surpassed 300 bolívares in the P2P market in our country. And no, it is not just another number in the chaotic Venezuelan economy - it is the symptom of an economic system that continues to bleed while our leaders look the other way.
As a Venezuelan, it boils my blood every time I see these figures. The parallel market skyrockets while the Central Bank keeps its official rate at a fantasy of 169 bolívares per dollar. Who do they think they are fooling? No one who experiences the daily reality of our streets!
What frustrates me the most is seeing how we have to resort to digital commerce platforms to protect ourselves from the voracity of our own currency. The bolívar is no longer a currency; it is a condemnation for those who depend on a minimum wage that evaporates before they get home.
The disparity between the official rate and what we pay in the P2P market is not "supply and demand" as they want to make us believe - it is the reflection of an economy fractured by years of disastrous policies! Meanwhile, traders adjust their prices to the highest value of USDT, making our daily lives even more unsustainable.
And what do we Venezuelans do? We adapt as always. We buy USDT even if we lose on the commission because we know that tomorrow the bolívar will be worth less. We sell today to buy food, knowing that each transaction leaves us with less purchasing power.
This digital dollarization is not a choice - it is our only defense against an inflation that devours us. I do not celebrate when the digital dollar rises; I weep for what it represents: another nail in the coffin of our economic sovereignty.
And in the meantime, those who could change this continue in the Miraflores palace, oblivious to the suffering of a people who are just trying to survive in this financial labyrinth that has been imposed on us.
