With the continuous development of Blockchain technology, the Interoperability between different ecosystems has become the focus of attention in the industry. Against this background, the Tac project has emerged, aiming to create an innovative platform that connects Ethereum DApps with the TON and Telegram ecosystems.
Tac, as a first-layer blockchain fully compatible with EVM, is set to officially debut in July 2024. The project is built on TON and has its own jetton TON token system, which is quite similar to Ethereum's ERC-20 tokens. By collaborating with projects within the TON ecosystem, Tac aims to enhance the value and influence of the entire TON network.
The emergence of Tac is timely. It is reported that Telegram plans to stop supporting Mini Apps on blockchains other than TON in early 2025. This decision poses a challenge for developers to adapt EVM applications to TVM. The existence of Tac offers EVM developers a convenient solution, enabling them to easily integrate their applications into the Telegram and TON ecosystem.
It is worth noting that the Tac team operates independently of TON and Telegram. The project has raised a total of $11.5 million through seed and strategic rounds of financing from the end of 2024 to early 2025. Among them, the latest $5 million strategic round was led by Hack VC, which had previously participated in the $6.5 million seed round investment.
However, Telegram's decision to adopt a TON-specific strategy for Mini Apps has sparked some controversy within the community. In response, Steve Yun from the TON Foundation stated that this move is reasonable from the perspective of security and scalability.
For the vast number of developers, the emergence of Tac undoubtedly brings new opportunities. It provides a seamless way to deploy on TON for EVM, allowing developers to quickly adapt to the new ecosystem without starting from scratch.
With the advancement of the Tac project, we have reason to believe that it will play an important role in promoting the integration of the blockchain ecosystem and driving technological innovation. However, the long-term success of the project also requires continuous technical support, community participation, and market recognition. In the future, whether Tac can truly become a key link connecting different blockchain ecosystems is something we look forward to.
