Cleanspark is about to obtain approval for a Bitcoin Mining Farm in Tennessee.

According to Bitcoin.com, CleanSpark, a crypto mining company in Nevada, has received preliminary support from the local planning committee for a Bitcoin mining data center proposal in Mountain City, Tennessee, but full approval is contingent upon completing detailed site planning and reaching a final agreement with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). The company’s Chief Operating Officer, Scott Garrison, stated that if approved, the 50.48-acre mining farm is expected to be operational within two months, using low-noise ASIC mining equipment to avoid air cooling. He emphasized that the equipment noise will be comparable to the adjacent road traffic in response to community noise concerns. CleanSpark operates 31 similar mining farms in the United States, and the project will initially provide 12 “high-paying” positions that do not require a degree, with potential further expansion due to the establishment of maintenance facilities. The company cited the Georgia project as an example, stating that it helps workers improve their living conditions. Rodney Metcalf, the general manager of Mountain City Electric, also expressed support for the project, believing that its large energy demand will help offset the “significant” rise in electricity costs. Mayor Jerry Jordan described the proposal as “promising,” but expressed dissatisfaction with the delays in its planning. CleanSpark is waiting for TVA’s energy plan decision in mid-May, and the planning committee will review the proposal again on May 22.
