Meta Llama model downloads exceed 1 billion, with multiple new models expected to be released this year
PANews reported on March 18 that, according to TechCrunch, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Threads that the total downloads of the Llama series of AI models have exceeded 1 billion, up about 53% from 650 million in December 2024. In addition, Meta is accelerating the development of Llama and plans to invest up to $80 billion in AI projects by 2025. Meta expects to launch a number of new Llama models in the coming months, including an OpenAI-like “inference” model and AI with native multimodal capabilities. The inaugural LlamaCon developer conference is scheduled for April 29, and more details may be announced at that time.
