Ethereum co-founder reveals ten years of progress in Blockchain and future vision
Ethereum co-founder shares vision for Blockchain development
At a recent global blockchain summit, the co-founder of Ethereum reviewed the development history of the project and made projections for the future. He stated that the Ethereum project began in November 2013, the foundation was established in 2014, and the mainnet was launched in July 2015.
Over the past decade, Ethereum's main goal has been to improve its technology. From 2015 to 2017, and even now, the core focus has remained largely consistent, including scalability, privacy, and zero-knowledge proof technology. Although the direction has not changed, significant progress has indeed been made during these ten years.
Progress is mainly reflected in the following aspects:
First is the significant decrease in transaction fees. From hundreds of dollars in 2020 to 2021, it has now been reduced to around $0.01 thanks to the implementation of Layer 2 solutions. This change has opened up possibilities for more application scenarios.
Secondly, the improvement in transaction confirmation speed. By enhancing the protocol, most transactions can be confirmed within a few seconds, greatly improving the user experience.
The third is the optimization of the application interface. From the early rudimentary interface to the now user-friendly design that is no different from mainstream applications, blockchain applications have become more user-friendly.
In addition, technologies such as smart accounts, account abstraction, and zero-knowledge proofs have made significant progress, providing users with more convenience.
Looking ahead, the main challenge facing Ethereum is how to achieve ecological unity. Currently, cross-chain operations are still complex and prone to errors. To address this, new protocols and tools are being developed to simplify the process.
Regarding the future development of Ethereum, the co-founder proposed several key goals:
He emphasized that the current technological advancements provide new opportunities for many ideas that have failed in the past. He encourages developers to retry projects that were unsuccessful before, as the current technological environment may yield different results.
